Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami kicked off Wildlife Week on Thursday at his camp office in Dehradun, India. He waved the flag to start a lively bike rally put together by the state’s Forest Department, all aimed at spreading the word on wildlife conservation.

The rally zipped through key spots like Ghantaghar, Parade Ground, and Survey Chowk before wrapping up at Malsi Zoo. Riders shared messages about protecting animals and their habitats to get everyone excited about the cause.

Every year, Wildlife Week lights up the first week of October to boost awareness on wildlife conservation in India. This marks the 74th edition, with a fresh theme: Human-Wildlife Coexistence. It’s all about finding ways for people and animals to share spaces safely.

Dhami stressed how forests and wildlife form the backbone of our ecosystem. “Life simply can’t thrive without protecting them,” he said. He called for better harmony between humans and wildlife to keep the environment stable and secure. Protecting Uttarakhand’s lush green heritage is everyone’s job, he added, urging folks to join the push for wildlife conservation so future generations inherit a clean, safe, and thriving world.

To celebrate 25 years of Uttarakhand as a state, a special wildlife photography exhibition opens today at the Doon Library and Research Centre. It runs through October 8 and showcases stunning shots to spark interest in conservation efforts.

Looking ahead, a big Wildlife Conservation Awareness Programme hits Malsi Zoo on October 3. Expect public leaders, environmental experts, and everyday citizens to join in and learn more about keeping wildlife safe in Uttarakhand.
