In Lucknow’s bustling Mahanagar area, a scary collision between a school van and a Toyota Fortuner car left several children injured on Thursday, October 3. The crash happened near Mount Carvel College, sending panic through the young passengers aboard the van, according to local police.
Nine schoolchildren were riding in the van when it slammed into the Fortuner. Four kids ended up with minor injuries and got quick first aid before heading home. But two others needed more help: a Class 10 student broke a hand, and a Class 7 student hurt a leg badly.
At Bhaurao Devras Civil Hospital in Mahanagar, emergency medical officer Dr. Vandana Singh treated two of the injured girls. “Akshita Singh and Itika Verma came to our ER after the school van accident with the Fortuner,” Dr. Singh told reporters. “We’ve consulted our orthopedic surgeon, taken X-rays, and we’re waiting on the results to see how to proceed.”
Police quickly stepped in, noting the Fortuner had no license plate—a big red flag. They’ve seized both the school van and the Fortuner, hauling them to the station for checks. The young driver of the Fortuner is now in custody, and investigators are digging deeper into what caused the Lucknow school van crash.
This incident highlights ongoing road safety worries in India’s busy cities, where school transport accidents grab headlines far too often. Authorities urge drivers to follow rules to keep kids safe on their daily commutes.
