Pak Islamabad, Oct 8 – Pakistan’s violence has jumped more than 46 % in the third quarter of 2025, the latest report from an Islamabad‑based think tank says. The Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) found that 901 people were killed and 599 were injured in 329 incidents, including terror attacks and counter‑terror operations.
The report warns that 2025 could become the deadliest year in a decade if the current trend keeps going. Even so far, Pakistan has already recorded 2 414 deaths from January to September, almost matching last year’s total of 2 546 deaths. That’s a 58 % rise compared with 1 527 deaths in the same period of 2024.
In 2024, security operations caused 505 deaths (about a third of the total) and terror attacks accounted for 1 022. This year, security operations have taken a larger share – 1 265 deaths, more than half of all fatalities.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan are the most volatile provinces. KP alone accounts for nearly 71 % of the violence‑related deaths (638 people) and 67 % of the incidents (221 events). Balochistan follows with over a quarter of the deaths (230) and 85 incidents. The rest of the country has seen relatively fewer casualties.
The report also highlights who is most at risk. Civilians faced the highest number of attacks and injuries: 123 terror incidents, 355 injuries and the biggest share of fatalities. Security officials were targeted in 106 incidents, while outlaws were involved in about 100 security operations.
Overall, Pakistan’s security situation is worsening. The CRSS warns that unless violence is curbed, 2025 could see even higher death tolls and a tighter security clamp after a decade of conflict.
