In Madurai’s Anna Nagar, BJP leaders kicked off the party’s statewide push for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
The launch, called “Tamil Nadu: Tamizharin Payanam” (Tamil Nadu: The Journey of Tamils), was held on Sunday at the Ambika Theatre Junction.

BJP’s state chief, Nainar Nagendran, opened the event after praying at the Meenakshi Amman Temple. He spoke directly to the crowd, punching the ruling DMK government for what he described as administrative failure, rising lawlessness and hurting women, children and even sanitation workers. “The countdown has begun for the DMK regime,” Nagendran said, adding that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would form the next government and Edappadi K. Palaniswami would take oath as chief minister.

The launch drew a crowd of senior BJP and AIADMK figures. Union Minister L. Murugan, former state BJP president K. Annamalai, and AIADMK leaders R.P. Udayakumar and Sellur Raju were all present, underscoring the growing BJP‑AIADMK partnership.

A highlight of the day was a brand‑new campaign anthem that borrowed lines from Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as the late AIADMK icon J. Jayalalithaa. The song decried the DMK and the Congress and received enthusiastic cheers. One segment of the anthem recalled Jayalalithaa’s criticism of a powerful DMK family, and the crowd’s reaction—Udayakumar’s applause, Raju’s smile—showed the emotional tie between the parties.

Nagendran’s speech and the anthem set the tone for the BJP’s broad campaign, which promises to rally voters across Tamil Nadu against the DMK and aims to secure a landslide win in the upcoming state elections.
