US President Donald Trump is set to travel to Bangkok for the signing ceremony of the new peace deal between Thailand and Cambodia, Malaysia’s foreign minister told reporters earlier today. The event, which marks a major step toward ending years of border disputes, is attracting high‑profile guests from around the world.

The deal was negotiated under the umbrella of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and is expected to bring lasting stability to the region. Malaysia’s foreign minister, who praised the agreement as “a milestone for regional security,” highlighted the role that the United States can play in supporting the treaty’s implementation.

Trump’s attendance comes as the president visits Southeast Asia on his personal break. In a statement, his spokesperson said the trip was an opportunity to strengthen ties with allies and to witness a historic moment in Thailand‑Cambodia relations.

The signing will take place in a ceremony at the Grand Palace in Bangkok on Saturday. Officials say the event will be broadcast live and will feature speeches by leaders from Thailand, Cambodia, and the United States. The peace deal is seen as a key component of ASEAN’s strategy to improve cooperation on maritime security, trade, and economic development.
