A Florida mother was taken into custody on Monday in a shocking child‑pornography case that has rattled the Pinellas County community. Police say the woman forced her 11‑year‑old daughter to film and send explicit videos to a 38‑year‑old man who later viewed and shared the material.
The sheriff’s office confirmed that the videos, sent between March and April, show the daughter performing a range of disturbing acts — including sex with the family dog — a claim the sheriff described as “grotesque” and “the worst kind of child abuse.” Sheriff Bob Gualtieri told reporters that the crimes were so horrific they “ruin kids’ lives.”
The suspect and the man who watched the videos likely met online, though investigators are still looking into any financial exchange. It’s still unclear whether the videos were sent to other people or how many more the daughter might have been forced to record.
The mother is now held on 41 counts, including four capital sexual battery charges, 13 for transmitting child pornography, 13 for forcing the child to perform sexual acts, and three for bestiality. A judge has ordered her to have no contact with her daughter, who remains in her father’s custody and is supported by the Department of Children and Families and other victim advocates.
In the past year, Pinellas County has booked 84 people on more than 900 child‑pornography related charges, a number the sheriff said is “nuts” and that he sees every day. The case highlights how dangerous these crimes are to young victims and underscores the need for swift law‑enforcement action.
