Savli, Gujarat – In Namisara village, a small Anganwadi centre has turned into a modern learning hub, showing how corporate social responsibility can lift rural children’s education.
Mahindra Excello and the United Way of Vadodara invested in the “Smart Anganwadi” to give kids in the rural heart of Vadodara district a taste of the technology and nutrition seen in private play schools. The upgrade replaced an old, under‑used building with smart TVs, interactive audio‑visual lessons, and nutritious meals.
The centre’s transformation has pulled participation up from a handful of children to full capacity. “Parents in Namisara 1 love that this place has the same high‑quality facilities as elite schools,” says Savitri A. Nathji, Programme Officer of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS). She added that the smart TV, packed with stories, nursery rhymes and poems, makes learning fun for little ones.
Parents echo the enthusiasm. Afrozbano Chauhan says her daughter leaves the centre excited to study, having grasped new concepts quickly. The meals – milk, fruit, and wholesome dishes – help keep kids healthy and focused.
The Smart Anganwadi couples digital tools with traditional nurturing. Kids get interactive lessons, tasty food, and care that supports both mental and emotional growth. The result: children ready for formal schooling and beyond.
This model shows how collaboration between big firms and local charities can bridge the gap between rural and urban education. The success in Namisara may inspire similar projects in other parts of Gujarat, giving every child the chance to start life with quality early learning and care.
