Northeast CMs hail Radhakrishnan’s victory, say new VP will uphold democratic values

Leaders from India’s Northeast states are showering praise on C.P. Radhakrishnan after his election as the 15th Vice President of India. They believe his deep knowledge and years of experience will boost the country’s democratic values and guide the Rajya Sabha wisely.

Radhakrishnan won the hotly contested election on Tuesday, grabbing 452 votes against opposition candidate and former Supreme Court judge B. Sudarshan Reddy’s 300. As the new Vice President of India, he’s set to play a key role in upholding parliamentary traditions.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma led the congratulations on X (formerly Twitter). “On behalf of Assam’s people, I warmly congratulate Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan ji on becoming Vice President,” Sarma posted. He added that Radhakrishnan’s strong roots in Indian culture and vast experience make him a perfect fit for the role. Sarma also thanked NDA partners for their decisive support in this Vice President election.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha echoed the excitement. In his X post, he said, “Big congratulations to Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan ji on winning as Vice President of India. His rich experience will strengthen our democracy.” Saha wished him the best for this new chapter.

Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla shared a heartfelt message on X. “Heartfelt congratulations to Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan on becoming Vice President,” he wrote. Bhalla praised his service to the nation and said it would inspire everyone. He prayed for wisdom and health as Radhakrishnan takes on this big responsibility.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma joined in too. “I congratulate our 15th Vice President, Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan ji, along with Meghalaya’s people and the whole nation,” Sangma posted on X. He hoped for divine blessings to help him handle this huge task.

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio kept it simple yet positive. On X, he congratulated Radhakrishnan and said, “His wisdom and vast experience will greatly serve the nation.”

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu highlighted Radhakrishnan’s people-focused background. In an X post, Khandu wrote, “Sincere congratulations on becoming Vice President of India. Your public service experience and connection with people will guide the Rajya Sabha with wisdom and fairness. I wish you strength to strengthen our democracy and support those on the margins.”

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang wrapped up the Northeast cheers. On X, he said, “Heartiest congratulations to Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan ji on his election as Vice President. This shows his dedication to public life and the nation.” Tamang added that under his leadership, India’s parliamentary democracy will grow stronger, focusing on justice, harmony, and inclusivity.

These warm messages from Northeast leaders show the high hopes for Radhakrishnan’s tenure as Vice President of India, promising a brighter future for democratic values.
