Nadia, Nov 16 – A West Bengal man named Sabir Ahmed, who is jailed at Presidency Jail, is now being questioned by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) about the car blast that rocked Delhi. Ahmed, from Palashipara’s Bara Naldaha, is in custody under the Anti‑Narcotics Act, and officials are pressing him for answers under both state and central orders.
Ahmed’s brother, Faisal, was also taken into custody by the Special Task Force last Thursday night. Authorities are tightening their probe after the deadly blast by a Hyundai i20 near the Red Fort Metro Station on November 10, which killed at least twelve people and injured many more.
Investigators discovered that the driver of the exploding car, Dr. Umar Mohammad, received ₹20 lakh through illegal money channels. DNA matched him to the vehicle that detonated at a traffic signal on Netaji Subhash Marg close to Gate 1 of the metro station. In the same week, Faridabad police seized 2,900 kg of explosives—including ammonium nitrate—about 50 km from Delhi.
The NIA is now tracking financial links of Dr. Umar, Dr. Muzammil, and Dr. Shaheen, a woman doctor linked to the terror plot. Muzammil told officials that the three doctors had been paid ₹20 lakh, likely from a Jaish‑e‑Mohammed (JeM) handler who smuggled the money through hawala. A dispute over the funds reportedly erupted between Umar and Shaheen. Police have detained several hawala dealers for questioning. Roughly ₹3 lakh of the money ended up buying fertilizers, further linking the case to the large ammonium nitrate stockpile seized in Faridabad.
The Delhi explosion is being called a “white‑collar terror module,” involving trained medical professionals with ties to Jammu and Kashmir. Police, the Special Cell, and NIA teams have already collected more than forty samples from the blast site for forensic analysis.
Investigations continue as authorities aim to crack the network behind the attack.
