Patna — A woman was shot dead in Bihar’s Nawada district on November 28, and police nabbed her husband within a day. The incident occurred around 3 p.m. at Purani Hardiya village, falling under the jurisdiction of the Rajauli police station.
Shortly after the attack, a specialized team led by Superintendent of Police Abhinav Dhiman mobilized. They reached the crime scene promptly, spoke with nearby residents, and laid out the area to gather evidence. Their forensic squad collected crucial items on the spot.
Rajauli SDPO Gulshan Kumar personally visited the scene and issued directives to the officers. He reported that Gopal Mishra, accused in the murder, was taken into custody along with a locally‑made Katta, two live cartridges, and one spent bullet.
During questioning, the deceased’s son claimed that his father acted because of a family quarrel and described him as quarrelsome. “He shot my mother at close range using a firearm on Friday and fled from the scene,” the son stated in his police interview.
After the shooting, the victim’s body was forwarded to Sadar Hospital for an autopsy; doctors recovered a bullet from her. A complaint filed by the son led to a murder case being registered at Rajauli police station (Case No. 631/25).
Addressing a press briefing, SDPO Kumar said that due to the grave nature of the case, a dedicated team was promptly assembled. They apprehended the principal suspect within 12 hours, and he admitted to the crime during interrogation. The recovered weapon and ammunition were the tools used. Once interrogation concludes, the suspect will be transferred to judicial custody.
