Maniac who randomly slapped boy, 6, at Bryant Park’s Winter Village has 17 prior busts: cops
A 42‑year‑old man from the Bronx was arrested after he unexpectedly slapped a six‑year‑old boy in Bryant Park’s Winter Village on Sunday, authorities say. Police confirmed the suspect, David Silva, faces a felony assault charge along with a history of more than a dozen prior arrests over the past decade.
Silva’s most recent run‑in with the law occurred in June 2024 when he hurled eggs at a stranger in Queens. According to police, the incident took place near Roosevelt Avenue and 81st Street in Jackson Heights around 8:30 p.m. The victim, a 38‑year‑old woman, was approached by Silva who demanded money; after she refused, he grabbed eggs from her cart and threw them at her, causing injury. He was subsequently charged with misdemeanor assault, though the outcome of that case was still pending at the time of reporting.
Over the years, Silva’s record has largely consisted of misdemeanor assault charges. His earliest documented arrest dates back to November 2015, when he was taken into custody for disorderly conduct. The latest arraignment for the attack on the child, who escaped serious harm and received medical attention at a police precinct, was scheduled for Monday afternoon.
