Disneyland’s Star Wars and Haunted Mansion attractions among several shut down for refurbishment in 2026
If you’re planning a winter escape to Disneyland—the place that’s still called the happiest spot on Earth—double‑check the details before you book. The park will begin a massive overhaul in early 2026, and that means families will miss out on many of the park’s biggest thrills for months. While a new ticket deal is expected to bring crowds back, several classic attractions, including the crown jewel of Galaxy’s Edge, will be shut for maintenance.
The flagship “Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance” ride will go dark on Jan. 20 for routine upkeep, according to the park’s schedule. Though an official reopening date hasn’t been announced, insiders suggest the attraction could stay closed until just before the President’s Day rush in mid‑February. Meanwhile, Disney has rolled out a hefty ticket promotion, cutting prices down to as low as $68 per day to entice guests during the slow season.
The closures aren’t limited to the galaxy far, far away. Both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure will see significant downtime. The Haunted Mansion will shut its doors on Jan. 12 to remove its “Nightmare Before Christmas” overlay, leaving the New Orleans Square classic closed for about two weeks. At Pixar Pier, the Incredicoaster and the Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind will be out of service for refurbishment starting Jan. 5, and the popular Lamplight Lounge will close on Jan. 12 for a refresh. The Grizzly River Run water ride will also hibernate from Jan. 5.
Disney didn’t immediately answer a request for comment about the closures.
