Jaipur Celebrates Disabled Cricket Stars at Inaugural Divyam Awards
Jaipur lit up with pride as the Rajasthan Disabled Cricket Association (RDCA), backed by the Differently Abled Cricket Council of India (DCCI), pulled off the first-ever Divyam Cricket Awards – DCCI Physical Disability Annual Awards 2025. The glamorous night happened at Hotel Clarks Amer, where heroes of disabled cricket got the spotlight they deserve.
Rajesh Kannur from Karnataka grabbed the top honour as DCCI Player of the Year for his stellar performances. Meanwhile, Ravindra Patil from Mumbai walked away with the Lifetime Achievement Award, recognising his lifelong dedication to the game.
This fresh event shines a light on the amazing work of disabled cricketers, coaches, admins, and fans. It’s all about celebrating their grit, unbreakable spirit, and how they push for inclusivity in cricket. As disability cricket gains traction in India, these awards build a solid base for young talents to thrive.
The evening kicked off with Neeraj K. Pawan, Chairman of Rajasthan State Sports Council & Youth Affairs, as the Chief Guest. Guests of Honour included D. D. Kumawat, Convenor of the Ad Hoc Committee at Rajasthan Cricket Association, and Ravikant Chauhan, DCCI Secretary. Other big names like Vivek Gupta, Rajesh Tambi, Jyotsana Choudhary (RDCA President), Anil Mittal (RDCA Chief Patron), Krishan Kumar Gupta (RDCA Secretary), and Gaurav Jhalani (RDCA Treasurer) added star power.
In exciting news, Neeraj K. Pawan and D. D. Kumawat revealed that Jaipur will host the India-England Physical Disability Cricket Series soon. They pledged full backing to boost disability cricket’s growth and visibility in the country.
Ravikant Chauhan dropped another bombshell: DCCI plans a strong setup for disability cricket, with player salaries starting shortly. This move promises financial security and pro-level respect for these athletes.
