Delhi’s industrial hubs are getting a makeover, says the Minister for Environment and Industries, Manjinder Singh Sir Sir S. At a meeting on Thursday, Sir S met with senior officials from the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) to review road maintenance and redevelopment plans across 18 industrial zones.

DSIIDC officials explained that the city has split its industrial areas into three priority levels—satisfactory, medium and poor—based on how urgently each road needs work. The goal is a step‑by‑step upgrade that hits the worst‑condition roads first.

Key sites on the agenda include Patparganj, Okhla Industrial Estate Phase III, Wazirpur, Naraina, Mayapuri Ph‑I & II, Mangolpuri, Kirti Nagar, Badli, GT Karnal Road, DLF Moti Nagar, Jhilmil, Rajasthani Udyog Nagar and Lawrence Road. The Minister promised that the government will push beyond basic repairs and aim for lasting improvement.

“New designs will focus on long‑term solutions,” Sir S said. “We’re not only fixing the roads; we’ll reduce dust pollution with smart, science‑backed measures.”

The Minister instructed DSIIDC to make sure all new road projects include hidden ducts for future power cables, telecom lines and water pipes. That means fewer excavations later, saving time and money.

He also called for tight oversight of construction, insisting that projects finish on schedule and that dust control measures stay in place while work moves forward.

Officials noted that a city‑wide pothole repair drive is already underway, classified as part of Delhi’s Winter Action Plan. The drive brings together the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), the Public Works Department (PWD) and DSIIDC to smooth roads and cut dust across the industrial neighborhoods.

“The coordination helps us keep roads clean and safe for workers and trucks,” Sir S explained. “It also supports our broader air‑quality goals.”

Meanwhile, the government is hiring a consultant to design a comprehensive sanitation strategy for the industrial areas. The expert will tackle waste collection, drainage systems and overall environmental upkeep—issues that have long plagued Delhi’s factories and warehouses.

In short, Delhi’s industrial zones are set for a road‑upgrade across multiple fronts: better paving, improved utilities, strict dust control and professional cleaning plans. The city’s leaders aim to make the area safer for workers, faster for goods and cleaner for the environment.
