Qatar’s PM says agreement reached on Gaza ceasefire

In Doha, Qatar, officials announced that a new deal on the Gaza ceasefire has been reached. The agreement, approved on Thursday, covers the release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners and sets up ways to let aid reach the Gaza Strip.

Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Majed Al Ansari, posted on the social‑media platform X that the mediators had agreed on “all the provisions and implementation mechanisms” of the first phase of the ceasefire. He said the deal will end the war, free hostages and prisoners, and open the way for humanitarian supplies. More details will be released soon.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called the day “a great day for Israel.” He said he will call a government meeting tomorrow to approve the agreement and bring all kidnapped Israelis home. Netanyahu thanked the Israeli army, security forces, and U.S. President Donald Trump for their support, and he pledged that Israel would keep pushing for peace with its neighbors.

Hamas posted its own statement on Telegram, confirming the agreement and calling on the U.S., Arab mediators, and other international actors to make sure Israel fully follows the terms. The group reaffirmed its commitment to its people’s rights to freedom, independence, and self‑determination.

This first‑phase deal is a major step toward ending the Gaza conflict, releasing prisoners, and restoring aid flow to the area.
