Gujarat govt to provide discounts on Khadi starting this Gandhi Jayanti

On Gandhi Jayanti, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel rolled out exciting discounts on Khadi products to echo Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s push for “Vocal for Local” and “Har Ghar Swadeshi.” Starting October 2, shoppers in the state can snag a 30% rebate on Khadi and Polyvastra items, making these handmade treasures more affordable through the end of the year.

This move honors Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of promoting Swadeshi goods, or homegrown products. The special market promotion assistance covers production costs, so you’ll see lower prices on everything from Khadi fabrics to ready-made clothes. It ties right into Modi’s slogan, “Khadi for Nation – Khadi for Fashion,” aiming to build a self-reliant Atmanirbhar Bharat by boosting local production and sales.

Expect a sales surge for these indigenous items, crafted by rural artisans in cooperatives. Think cozy woolen sweaters, stylish jerseys, elegant shawls, silk Patola saris, handwoven mats, carpets, and more Khadi handcrafted goodies. The timing couldn’t be better—it’ll give these makers a real financial lift heading into Diwali celebrations.

To spread the word, the Gujarat Khadi Board is hosting exhibition-cum-sale fairs across the state. Check out the one in Bharuch from October 5 to 14, Chikhli from November 5 to 14, and Vapi from November 16 to 25. It’s a perfect chance to support local artisans and grab some unique Swadeshi finds this festival season.
