Gujarat govt hosts CM fellowship youth workshop; focus on people-centric reforms

A one‑day workshop kicked off in Gandhinagar on Monday, where Gujarat’s Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel met with 24 young officers from the state’s Chief Minister’s Fellowship program. The CM emphasized the power of pairing young talent with seasoned bureaucrats to improve public welfare and make doing business in Gujarat easier.

“We want more than just smooth administration,” Patel told the Fellows. “We aim for real changes that touch everyday life.” He said that the Fellowship—originally launched in 2009 by former chief minister Narendra Modi—has become a vital hub for fresh ideas that make government more tech‑focused, efficient and citizen‑friendly.

Patel highlighted Modi’s drive to turn Gujarat into a global model, noting that the Fellowship now stands as one of the best routes for young people to shape state policies. He urged the Fellows to help India hit its goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.

The event opened with a signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration (SPIPA) and IIM Indore. The agreement will build joint training programmes in public policy and management. SPIPA’s director Harit Shukla and IIM Indore’s director Himanshu Singh exchanged signatures at the ceremony.

Chief Secretary M.K. Das praised the Fellowship’s impact, citing the Fellows’ research and case studies that strengthen governance projects. He said the initiative has gained even more momentum under Patel’s leadership.

Senior advisors and departmental heads—including Chief Advisor Hasmukh Adhia, Additional Chief Secretary Avantika Singh, and Secretary Vikrant Pandey—heard the Fellows present their projects and share best practices. Faculty members from SPIPA and IIM Indore also attended.

The workshop reinforced Gujarat’s commitment to innovation in public service, driving easier business, stronger governance, and a brighter future for all residents.
