Congress head Mallikarjun Kharge also offered his condolences on X. “I am deeply pained by the lives lost in the stampede. My heartfelt sympathies go to those who were left behind. Crowd‑management rules are essential, and the state must give quick and adequate compensation to the affected families,” he added.
The victims were mostly women and children, trapped by the thick crowd. Images from the temple site showed broken bodies on the ground as rescue teams and locals rushed to help the injured. The scene was heartbreaking for both the community and the officials.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu also spoke out, describing the scene as “heartbreaking.” “The stampede in the Venkateswara Temple has shocked me deeply,” he said. “I’m extending my deepest condolences to those who lost loved ones. I’ve instructed my officials to give immediate and proper treatment to the injured.” Naidu ordered local authorities and public representatives to visit the scene and oversee relief and rescue operations personally.
