Mahindra & Mahindra boosted its auto sales in September, hitting 100,298 vehicles overall—a solid 16% jump from the same month last year. The Indian automaker saw huge excitement during the Navratri festival, with SUV sales surging more than 60% and commercial vehicle sales climbing over 70% in the first nine days compared to 2023.

In the utility vehicle category, Mahindra moved 56,233 units at home, up 10% year-over-year. Adding exports, total UV sales reached 58,714. Domestic commercial vehicle sales also shone, with 26,728 units sold and 18% growth.

The company mentioned a minor hiccup: SUV billing dipped slightly in the last 10 days of September due to a trailer shortage. Still, the numbers look strong.

Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of Mahindra’s Automotive Division, credited the success to GST 2.0 changes and built-up demand before the festive rush. “We sold 56,233 SUVs in September, a 10% increase, and overall vehicles totaled 100,298, up 16% from last year,” he said. “Festive vibes drove over 60% growth in SUV retails and more than 70% in commercial vehicle retails during the early Navratri period.”

Exports added to the wins, with Mahindra shipping 4,320 vehicles abroad—a 43% rise year-on-year. In three-wheelers, including electric models, domestic sales hit 13,017 units, showing 30% growth.

This performance highlights Mahindra’s strong position in India’s booming auto market, especially amid festive season demand for SUVs and commercial vehicles.
