The chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, has just given a big boost to soybean growers in the state. On November 13, a cash‑transfer event in Dewas saw the state pour Rs 233 crore straight into the bank accounts of about 133,000 soybean farmers, according to the Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana scheme.
Farmers across the state, from Dewas to Neemuch, cheered the news. The program is part of Yadav’s pledge to shield soybean farmers from rough market prices. In Neemuch alone, farmers received a total of Rs 1.25 crore, a cash boost that helped over a thousand growers immediately.
The event was attended by key officials—Neemuch MLA Dilip Singh Parihar, District Panchayat Chairman Sajjan Singh Chauhan, administrator Kalesh, and market agent Sanjeev Sahu—who praised the government’s direct support. “We are grateful to Chief Minister Yadav and Prime Minister Modi for this relief,” said Parihar.
Sahu explained how the purchase price for soybeans began at Rs 4,000 the day of the scheme’s launch, but the government set a minimum support price (MSP) of Rs 5,328. The difference—about Rs 1,300 per quintal—was transferred to farmers’ accounts. He said roughly 1,000 Neemuch farmers benefitted so far.
A beneficiary, Bhavani Shankar Patidar, told reporters that he received Rs 15,000 for the price gap on 11 quintals and 55 kg of soybeans. “Without this scheme, we would have suffered a lot,” he said.
The Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana shows Madhya Pradesh’s commitment to make the state a “soya bowl.” By placing cash directly into farmers’ pockets, the program aims to keep soybean growing profitable and secure a steadier supply for the national market.
