In Chennai, Tamil Nadu BJP chief Nainar Nagenthran has slammed the DMK government over what he calls a total breakdown in law and order. He claims police officers are facing brutal attacks, leaving everyone worried about safety in the state.
Nagenthran highlighted a shocking daylight assault in Pulianthope, Chennai. There, a group of drunk robbers beat up police officers who tried to arrest them. “This bold attack shows how the DMK’s poor administration is failing the people,” he said in a statement on Thursday. It has scared residents and left cops feeling helpless.
He added that the attackers didn’t stop there—they hurled abuses, threatened to kill, and trashed property right inside a police station, with an inspector watching. “Under DMK rule, people no longer trust the police, and criminals feel untouchable,” Nagenthran charged.
The BJP leader pointed out that such attacks on Tamil Nadu police aren’t new. Over the past four years, these incidents have spiked across the state. He questioned if the force has turned into a “kangaroo court” just following DMK’s political orders, which is making criminals bolder.
Nagenthran also blamed Chief Minister M.K. Stalin directly, saying the police’s strength and honesty are crumbling under his tight control. He called the whole situation “extremely dangerous” and mocked Stalin’s promises to “crush crime with an iron hand” as empty talk.
Finally, the TN BJP president urged Stalin to step in right away. He wants immediate action to stop violence against police officers, protect their safety, and give them the freedom to do their jobs properly. “Only then can Tamil Nadu rebuild trust in its law and order system,” Nagenthran concluded.
