‘Unlucky’ illegal immigrant allegedly runs red light and crashes into ICE vehicle

ICE Agent Accidentally Plows Into Immigration Officer in Louisiana

An immigrant from Honduras allegedly ran a red light in Slidell, Louisiana, and struck an ICE patrol vehicle during the Department of Homeland Security’s “Operation Catahoula Crunch.” The incident happened while federal agents were in the area looking for “criminal illegal aliens,” according to a DHS press release.

U.S. Border Patrol spokesman Gregory K. Bovino shared the event on Facebook, joking, “This blooper is one for the books!” He added, “Unlucky for her. Lucky for us.” Bovino also noted that the woman was taken into custody and that no one was injured in the collision.

ICE officials have not yet released the woman’s name or the location where she is being held. “Apparently, she never learned the lesson that red means stop, not ‘accelerate and collide with a government vehicle actively enforcing federal law,’” Bovino wrote in a follow‑up post.

The operation, which brought ICE crews to New Orleans, reportedly arrested up to 370 people, as reported by local broadcaster WVUE. The DHS said that, as part of Trump’s broader effort to curb illegal immigration, the agency plans to deport at least 600,000 non‑citizens by the end of 2025. Since January, more than two million individuals have left the U.S. under the administration’s immigration crackdown.

Border encounters have fallen 37% compared with the Biden era, the DHS announced, marking a new peak in low cross‑border reports.
