Pramod, Sukant & Krishna shine at Indonesia Para-Badminton

India kept its winning streak in para‑badminton at the Polytron Indonesia Para‑Badminton International 2025, packing the podium with gold, silver and bronze medals across seven events.
In the men’s doubles SL3‑SL4, Pramod Bhagat and Sukant Kadam topped the world. They beat the host favorite Indonesian pair Dwiyoko and Setiawan in straight sets, 21‑16, 21‑12, to lift the gold. Pramod added a bronze in mixed doubles, showcasing the pair’s versatile skill.
Tokyo Paralympic champion Krishna Nagar held his own, earning a bronze in men’s singles SH6 and a silver in mixed doubles SH6. He and partner Sumathy Sivan reached the final but fell to Indonesia’s Subhan and Marlina 13‑21, 9‑21.
“We’re proud to stand on the podium for India,” Bhagat said. “Every medal shows the hard work of our team, and winning gold with Sukant feels incredible after such a tough week.”
Kadam echoed the excitement: “Defeating the home favorites in the final proves our level. This win gives us great momentum for the rest of the season.”
Nagar added, “I’m happy to add two medals to India’s tally. The competition was fierce, especially in the finals. These medals fuel my determination to train harder and aim for gold next time.”
India’s success didn’t stop there. Gold medals came from Sivakumar in SL4, Nitesh in SL3, Manisha Ramdass in SU5, Sumathy Sivan in SH6 women’s, and S. Kumar in WH1. Silvers were claimed by Solaimalai (SH6 men), Prem Kumar and Alphina James (mixed doubles WH1‑WH2), and Abu Hubaida and Prem Kumar (men’s doubles WH1‑WH2).
With a strong finish across multiple classifications, India’s para‑badminton team solidified its position as a global powerhouse, leaving fans eager for the next international tournament.
