Exclusive | Curvy news anchor trolls haters by reading viewer comments in her broadcaster voice: ‘Fe fi foe yum’

Missouri morning news anchor Carissa Codel has taken the internet by storm with her laugh‑out‑loud response videos, where she happily reads the most outrageous and sometimes downright cruel comments that have been left about her figure.

“She’s thicker than zoo glass” — and she isn’t shy about saying it.
In one of her tongue‑in‑cheek clips, the 5‑foot‑3, 180‑pound reporter used her familiar morning news voice to deliver, “Dayuum Gurl, I want you to put a hurting on me like you do those midnight snacks.”
In another, she quipped, “You look like you could survive a harsh winter.”

Codel, who hosts “Ozark’s First” on Fox 49, began the trend back in August and the videos exploded from there. A single Instagram post from October has already racked up five million views, and she now sports over 222,000 followers on the platform — not to mention a solid 116,000 audience on TikTok.

One of the more memorable clips came with her teasingly saying, “Sources say there is enough cake for a triplet’s birthday party — but unfortunately for Josh, he won’t be getting a slice,” while flipping the script on one of the bullies. She told the story that the idea struck her after a particularly spicy comment that called her “built for breeding,” a remark that had her laughing outright.

Despite the harsh language of some fans, Codel remains unfazed. She grew her career at 18 and, over the years, has learned to filter the negativity. “It doesn’t affect me at all. I think that they’re hilarious … I don’t put up the extremely mean ones, but I like the insults that are very creative,” she explained. “My family is very thick‑skinned, I’ve never been bothered by a lot of that.”

Her focus on health has also helped her stay grounded. Over the past three years she shed 55 pounds, and that confidence echoes in how she responds to criticism, jokingly reminding commenters, “Oh you think I’m big now, you should have seen me back then.” “I know who I am, and I know what I look like.”

The comments naturally lean toward flirtation at times, with viewers throwing flirtatious jabs like “Fe fi foe yum” or proclaiming, “Brick wall, more like brick house, and I’m looking to move in.” Others went as far as saying she “gots enough muffin tops to start two bakeries.” Yet she has always emphasized that the jokes are part of the humor, not a personal attack.

In the beginning, Codel worried the frequent comedy videos would undermine her professional image. However, the viral attention seems to have strengthened her bond with viewers. “I think they see me as a more genuine person,” she reflected, “instead of just a reporter.”
