India’s Semiconductor Future Takes a Big Step Forward at SEMICON India 2025
New Delhi, September 5 — The recently held ‘SEMICON India 2025’ event brought together top global industry leaders, government officials, researchers, and startups. It was a lively three-day conference aimed at boosting India’s semiconductor industry through investment, collaboration, and innovative partnerships.
This event played a key role in helping India become a major player in the worldwide semiconductor market. Participants discussed ways to turn research into real products, develop skilled workers, and include India in the global semiconductor supply chain.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened the conference and shared an optimistic message. He said, “We are building a semiconductor ecosystem that makes India self-reliant and globally competitive.” He also emphasized India’s ambitious goals, stating, “Soon, even our smallest chips will power major global innovations.” PM Modi mentioned that India’s journey started later but is moving fast, driven by the mantra of Reform, Perform, and Transform. He announced plans for new reforms and long-term policies to continue strengthening India’s semiconductor industry.
This event is a clear sign of India’s rising importance in making chips and other semiconductor components. Over 350 companies and participants from 48 countries joined the event. It included four country pavilions, six roundtable discussions, and a special focus on workforce training. Topics covered everything from chip design and manufacturing to research and development, policies, and building a strong ecosystem.
The organizers from the Indian Semiconductor Mission and global industry group SEMI reported that the event attracted 35,000 registrations, saw 30,000 visitors in person, and had 25,000 online viewers.
Following successful editions in Bengaluru, Gandhinagar, and Greater Noida, the 2025 conference in Delhi set new standards for India’s role in the global semiconductor industry. It highlighted how India is rapidly transforming into a semiconductor manufacturing hub.
This event marks a major milestone in India’s journey to become a leading semiconductor nation, opening up new opportunities for growth, investment, and innovation in the tech sector.
