ABC’s popular drama 9-1-1 kicks off Season 9 with its signature wild emergencies, and a new trailer teases multiple heart-pounding scenarios just days before the October 9 premiere.
The one-minute clip drops fans right into the action. Tech billionaire Tripp Hauser, played by Mark Consuelos, ends up swallowed by a whale off the coast of Los Angeles. The 118 firehouse team springs into rescue mode. Eddie Diaz, portrayed by Ryan Guzman, jumps into the ocean to pull Tripp out, while Hen Wilson, brought to life by Aisha Hinds, revives him with CPR.
To show his gratitude, Tripp offers Hen a spot on a space mission—plus a guest. Hen first asks her wife, scientist Karen Wilson (Tracie Thoms), but Karen turns it down, sensing Tripp’s not serious about real science. So Hen recruits her best friend, LAPD sergeant Athena Grant (Angela Bassett), for the out-of-this-world adventure.
They join three other everyday heroes on the trip, including a character played by June Diane Raphael from The Morning Show. But drama hits hard: Tripp launches them knowing a massive geomagnetic storm looms. The trailer shows total chaos—sparks flying in space and disasters unfolding back on Earth, hitting the 118 crew amid the storm’s fury in LA.
Things look dicey for Athena and Hen. The preview ends with Athena hanging precariously outside the rocket, gazing at the planet below. Remember, this is the same tough cop who pulled off a daring plane landing in Season 8’s opener. Fans can bet she’ll rally the team through this cosmic crisis.
The Season 9 premiere promises more thrills for the full 118 squad, including Buck (Oliver Stark), Chimney Han (Kenneth Choi), Ravi Panikkar (Anirudh Pisharody), and Maddie Buckley (Jennifer Love Hewitt), plus their families. Catch the episode Thursday, October 9 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. Stream it next day on Hulu if you miss live TV.
9-1-1 Season 9 trailer buzz is already building excitement for the show’s mix of high-stakes rescues and personal stories. Stay tuned for updates as the season unfolds.
