Delhi CM Gupta, Ministers offer prayers at Golden Temple in Amritsar

Amritsar/New Delhi, Dec 8 – Delhi’s Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta, led a delegation of cabinet ministers to the holy city of Amritsar on Monday, stopping at Sri Harmandir Sahib to pray for the well‑being of its residents, an official stated.

“It is by Guru’s great grace that we have been given the opportunity to serve the people of Delhi,” she declared, bowing her head and expressing gratitude at Darbar Sahib.

The chief minister linked the visit to the recent three‑day ‘Gurmat Samagam’ at the Red Fort, which celebrated the 350th anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur’s martyrdom. She highlighted that lakhs of devotees gathered to pay homage, participate in Gurbani Kirtan and Sankirtan, and that the event was deemed one of the most magnificent religious gatherings in independent India.

During the trip she also paid respects at the Durgiana Temple and Valmiki Temple, offering prayers for national prosperity and the welfare of Delhi’s citizens. She lauded the ‘Gurmat Samagam’ as a historic success, noting that six lakh participants marked an unprecedented record and that the programme concluded peacefully, seamlessly, and beautifully thanks to Guru’s grace. “It is for this reason that I have come here today with my entire cabinet to offer my gratitude at the feet of Guru Sahib,” she added.

Looking ahead, the chief minister announced that the Delhi Government will organize a series of events over the coming year to honor Guru Tegh Bahadur’s 350th martyrdom anniversary. Plans also include publishing special books to share the guru’s teachings and the story of his sacrifice with schoolchildren. She stressed that similar celebrations are taking place across the country, all aimed at disseminating the universal message of Guru Sahib.

The visit, she emphasized, was not merely ceremonial but an expression of deep reverence, gratitude, and devotion to the Guru tradition. Rekha Gupta described her time in Amritsar as profoundly spiritual, calling the city a hub of faith and divine energy. Grateful for the warmth and welcome she received from its people, she said their love and blessings are her greatest strength. She hopes Guru’s grace continues, and she remains confident that the Delhi government will keep delivering dedicated service and accelerating public welfare initiatives in the future.
