Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar was spotted on Juhu beach in Mumbai this Sunday, but not for a film shoot. The actor rolled up his sleeves and joined a major beach clean-up drive, a day after the Ganpati Visarjan celebrations.
Videos from the initiative quickly spread across social media, showing Akshay Kumar actively picking up waste left behind from the immersions and filling garbage bags alongside other volunteers. He was joined by Amruta Fadnavis, the wife of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani.
Speaking at the event, Akshay Kumar emphasized the importance of public responsibility in keeping the city clean. He echoed a message often shared by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that cleanliness is not just the government’s or the BMC’s duty, but a responsibility that falls on every citizen.
The clean-up drive comes just as the actor gets back to his day job. Akshay recently kicked off shooting for his new film, ‘Haiwaan’, which marks his exciting reunion with co-star Saif Ali Khan after 18 years. The two last shared the screen in the 2008 film ‘Tashan’.
Akshay shared a behind-the-scenes video from the sets on Instagram, showing him and Saif in a casual chat with director Priyadarshan. The project also marks a significant comeback for Saif Ali Khan, who is returning to work after recovering from a scary incident earlier this year. In January, the actor sustained multiple stab wounds while bravely fighting off a burglar at his Bandra home.
