Diljit earned the nod in the Best Performance by an Actor category for his role in the Netflix biographical drama “Amar Singh Chamkila.” He reshared the announcement on his Instagram Stories, crediting director Imtiaz Ali: “It’s all because of @imtiazaliofficial sir.” He also tagged Netflix India.
Directed by Imtiaz Ali, the film dives into the life of legendary Punjabi folk singer Amar Singh Chamkila. He’s famous for his bold, raw songs tackling tough topics like drug abuse and dowry. The story wraps up with the tragic, unsolved 1988 assassination of Chamkila and his wife Amarjot, gunned down during a live performance.
