Mumbai, Nov 25 — Actress Ameesha Patel shared a touching tribute to the late Dharmendra, recalling how the veteran star always greeted her with a warm “Arrey meri Sakina” from a distance, followed by a hug that she will never forget. She took to Instagram with a photo of the moment and wrote that he would always be remembered for those familiar calls and embraces.
In her post, Ameesha said, “Dharamji I will miss ur warm hugs n u screaming ‘ARREY MERI SAKINA’ when u used to see me from a distance n I used to run to hug u !! V hard to say farewell to the incredible man that Dharamji was !! ” She highlighted that some losses are irreplaceable and leave a lasting void.
The actress, who has collaborated with Dharmendra’s son Sunny Deol on the “Gadar” saga, called him the original He‑Man, noting that his charisma could challenge even Hollywood stars. For her, however, his legacy extended far beyond fame, embodying a “terrific human being” whose humanitarian impact is remembered today. She concluded with a heartfelt “OM Shanti !! Heaven is a better place because ur there now love u.”
Dharmendra passed away at age 89 on November 24 at his home in Mumbai, after a brief hospitalization for shortness of breath at Breach Candy Hospital. Professionally, his final appearance appears in the 2024 film “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya,” and he will be seen posthumously in “Ikkis,” a war drama directed by Sriram Raghavan depicting the life of Arun Khetarpal, the youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra.
