US President Donald Trump has issued a stark ultimatum to Hamas: sign his Gaza peace plan by Sunday evening, or face unprecedented consequences.
In a fiery post on Truth Social Friday, Trump warned that an agreement must come by 6 p.m. Washington time. “Every country has signed on!” he wrote. “If this LAST CHANCE agreement is not reached, all HELL, like no one has ever seen before, will break out against Hamas.”
Trump ramped up the pressure, saying Hamas members who refuse the deal will be targeted and killed. He urged innocent Palestinians to “immediately leave” the warzone for safer areas in Gaza, promising help from those ready to assist. He claimed more than 25,000 Hamas fighters have already died since the October 7 attack, with the rest surrounded and “just waiting for me to give the word, ‘GO,’ for their lives to be quickly extinguished.” As for others, “we know where and who you are, and you will be hunted down, and killed.”
This comes days after Trump expressed strong confidence in ending the Gaza war. On Tuesday, speaking to over 800 senior military officers in Virginia, he said he had “got it settled” and would “get that done.” “Hamas has to agree,” he added. “If they don’t, it’s going to be very tough on them… But all of the Arab nations, Muslim nations have agreed. Israel has agreed. Amazing thing, it just came together.”
The 20-point Gaza peace plan calls for a temporary technocratic government to run things. Israel promises not to annex the Gaza Strip and won’t force any residents to leave. If Hamas accepts, the war ends right away, and all captives—alive or deceased—return within 72 hours. Trump mentioned he’d wait “three or four days” for a response.
The Gaza conflict erupted nearly two years ago on October 7, 2023, when Hamas launched a deadly attack on Israel, killing 1,200 people and taking 251 hostages. Today, about 48 hostages remain in captivity, with roughly 20 believed to be alive.
