Blake Lively shows her support for Taylor Swift’s new album, proving that their friendship remains strong. After weeks of speculation that the two stars were drifting apart because of Lively’s legal battle with It Ends With Us director and co‑star Justin Baldoni, the former Gossip Girl actress sent an affectionate “XOXO” to Swift on Instagram by liking the pop star’s October 3 post.

Lively joined the likes of Brittany Mahomes and Kylie Kelce in celebrating Swift’s latest project, The Life of a Showgirl. Fans point to the album’s tenth track, “Cancelled!”, as a subtle nod to the friendship drama. In the song, Swift sings about “friends cancelled” and promises loyalty no matter how much the spotlight twists around her inner circle.

“It’s about people who seem like they’re choosing us to be in their circle, even when they’re trying to tear us down,” she said in an interview for Amazon Music. “I don’t naturally cast people aside just because people say they don’t like them. I make my own decisions about people based on how they treat me.”

Swift’s lyricisation is seen as a broader reflection on fame, fallout and forgiveness. The track, which was written during her Eras Tour that wrapped up in December 2024, pre‑dated Lively’s harassment claims against Baldoni, making a direct link unlikely. Instead, Swift appears to be using “Cancelled!” to speak about open‑mind attitude and learning from difficult moments.

The “Cancelled!” chorus repeats, “I like them cloaked in Gucci and in scandal / Like my whiskey sour / And poison thorny flowers. Welcome to my underworld / Where it gets quite dark / At least you know exactly who your friends are.” One fan tweeted that the line references “the face of Gucci,” hinting at Lively’s own Gucci campaigns, her Betty Buzz brand, and her recent role in It Ends With Us.

Reaffirming the bond with Swift, Lively’s support on Instagram demonstrates that any rumors of a frosted friendship were unfounded. The two continue to cheer each other’s successes, and fans can enjoy Swift’s new music now that The Life of a Showgirl is available digitally.

Blake Lively and Taylor Swift are proving that close friends keep in touch—even when headlines try to split them. Their supportive gestures, new music and public statements remind us that friendships can endure through career highs, courtroom battles, and the glare of the spotlight.
