PKL 12: Bharat, Vijay guide Telugu Titans to 1-point win over Gujarat Giants, spoil Shadloui’s 100th game
In a nail-biting Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 clash at Jaipur’s SMS Indoor Stadium, the Telugu Titans edged out the Gujarat Giants 30-29 on Tuesday, keeping their playoff dreams alive in the second leg.
The Titans kicked off strong, with Vijay Malik raiding successfully right away to put them up 1-0. They kept the pressure on, grabbing two more quick points for a 3-0 lead early in the first half. Gujarat finally responded when Visvanth V landed a raid to get on the board.
But the Titans pulled ahead to 6-2, though Gujarat’s Aryavardhan Navale tackled hard to make it 3-6. The Titans fired back, extending to 7-3 before the timeout.
After the break, Gujarat’s Sumit tackled for a point, and Navale raided again to close the gap to 5-7. The Titans countered with their own raid, holding a slim edge. Navale struck once more to tie things at 9-10, and Lucky Sharma’s tackle leveled it at 10-10. The Titans rallied in the closing minutes, heading into halftime up 12-10.
The second half exploded with action. Gujarat tied it at 12-12 right away, thanks to substitute Mohammadreza Shadloui’s raids and Rohit Nandal’s key tackle for a 13-12 lead. Shadloui dominated, adding three points in the first three minutes as Gujarat’s defense shone.
They capped it with an All Out on the Titans, surging to 18-14. The Titans chipped away, but Gujarat maintained a two-point lead at the timeout, 21-19.
Post-timeout, Bharat Hooda raided to make it 20-21, then the Titans unleashed their own All Out, flipping the score to 24-23 with over six minutes left. Malik raided for two more, pushing the lead to 26-24.
Shadloui fought back for Gujarat, cutting it to 26-24, but the Titans poured it on in the final stretch. They built a five-point cushion and held firm through the tension, clinching the thrilling 30-29 win.
Bharat Hooda led with nine points, Malik added seven, and Shadloui’s super-sub heroics nearly turned the tide for Gujarat in this Pro Kabaddi League thriller.
