Chief of Naval Staff lauds 14-year-old sailing champion Rameeza Bhanu

In New Delhi on Friday, Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi met the 14‑year‑old sailing champion SK Rameeza Bhanu. The Navy chief praised her courage and resilience, calling her journey a true story of hope.

Rameeza grew up without a home, but the charity Rainbow Homes stepped in. They gave her shelter, schooling and the chance to chase a new dream. A friend from the Yacht Club of Hyderabad Foundation introduced her to sailing, and within a year she collected bronze, silver and gold medals at national regattas. Now she’s set to represent India in Oman.

Admiral Tripathi highlighted how Rainbow Homes and the Yacht Club of Hyderabad have turned lives around by mentoring young talent. He added that Rameeza’s story echoes the spirit of Nari Shakti—strength, bravery and perseverance—and fits perfectly with the Indian Navy’s values of resilience, dedication and service.

The 14‑year‑old also topped the girls’ division of the Optimist Main Fleet at the YAI Tiscon Youth Open Regatta in July 2025, held at Hussain Sagar Lake in Hyderabad. Rainbow Homes described her win as a triumph of discipline, support and the magic that happens when opportunity meets determination.
