In a post dated December 13, the celebrated filmmaker SS Rajamouli expressed strong enthusiasm for Ashish Chanchlani’s newly released series “Ekaki,” describing it as “promising” and singling out the transition from horror to sci‑fi as a clever twist. He also reminisced about their first encounter at the Varanasi event held in Hyderabad, saying,
> “Met Ashish during the Varanasi event and now Iam happy to see him with his own fully written, produced, and self‑made series. #Ekaki looks promising… Especially the genre shift from horror to sci‑fi. A clever twist. All the best @ashchanchlani !! (sic)”
Following the praise, Chanchlani thanked the “Baahubali” director for his supportive words and called the director’s reaction the “biggest achievement.” He added,
> “Rajamouli sir, thank you for your guidance and your kind words Its truly a dream come true for someone like me to hear this from you Your reaction to it was my biggest achievement Love you sir,” he reacted.
When asked about his experience, Chanchlani reflected on the demanding yet rewarding journey of creating the series. He explained that taking on the roles of writer, director, producer and actor made the project entirely different from anything he had done before. “We didn’t know any of this at the outset,” he said. “It turned out to be a tough, grueling process that spanned roughly seven months of pre‑production, 80 days of shooting, and another seven months of post‑production,” he added. “I genuinely loved every part of it. I’m not sure I’d tackle something like this again, but I feel vindicated after all the effort I put in. I just hope the audience enjoys watching it as much as we enjoyed making it.”
“Ekaki” follows a group of friends who head to the enigmatic Ekaki Villa for a weekend getaway, only to find their fun turning eerily unsettling as supernatural disturbances begin to unfold.
