Actor Dhanush has a confession: he once dreamed of becoming a chef. Now, in his latest project as both star and director, the Tamil cinema favorite plays the owner of an idli shop in the upcoming film Idli Kadai. He opened up about this during the movie’s trailer launch in Coimbatore on September 21.
"I don’t know why, but I keep landing chef roles," Dhanush told the crowd with a smile. "I wanted to cook and become a chef. Maybe that’s why these parts keep coming my way. In Jagame Thandiram, I made parottas. In Thiruchitrambalam, I was a delivery boy. In Raayan, I ran a fast food shop. And now, in Idli Kadai, I’m making idlis. Whether I write the script myself or directors approach me, it happens. I call it manifestation."
Dhanush dove deeper into the idea, sharing life advice for fans, especially youngsters. "What you think, you become. Manifestation has followed me even after I became an actor. Dream big, believe it’s already yours, and work hard to make it real. Anyone can achieve their goals—meditate on them and keep pushing. That’s just my story."
The star described Idli Kadai as a straightforward, heartfelt story. "It’s humble and emotional," he said. "Grab your family and enjoy it together."
Produced by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films and Dawn Pictures, the movie stars him alongside Nithya Menen in the leads. Shalini Pandey takes on a key role, as rumors suggested, while Arun Vijay steps in as the villain. Fans are buzzing about the intense showdown between Dhanush and Arun Vijay.
Directed by Dhanush himself, Idli Kadai features cinematography by Kiran Koushik and a soundtrack by G V Prakash. The team originally planned a worldwide release for April 10 but pushed it back to October 1 for a stronger rollout.
