The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) just revealed its 23-member squad for the upcoming 3rd Asian Youth Games 2025 in Bahrain. Right now, these young boxers are hitting the training camp at the National Sports Institute in Patiala from September 23 to October 20, gearing up for the big event.
BFI picked the team straight from the 6th U-17 Junior Boys & Girls National Boxing Championship 2025. Gold winners like Dhruv Kharb, Udham Singh Raghav, Khushi Chand, Ahaana Sharma, and Chandrika Bhoreshi Pujari got automatic spots on the main squad. Silver medalists stepped in as reserves for their weight classes.
These athletes already made waves at the Asian U-17 Championships in July 2025, where India grabbed 43 medals and landed second place overall. That success highlights how Indian youth boxing is on the rise, taking on Asia’s top teams head-on.
“In the past few months, our young boxers have proven they can compete with the best in Asia, delivering solid wins at national and continental levels,” said Ajay Singh, BFI President. “This camp will build on that energy, hone their skills, and get them ready to chase medals in Bahrain. It’s all about boosting India’s growing power in youth boxing.”
The core squad includes 14 boxers—seven boys and seven girls—supported by six coaches, two physiotherapists, and one doctor. Vinod Kumar leads the boys’ U-17 group, while Jitender Raj Singh heads the girls’ side.
Mixing fresh faces with these proven champs, Team India looks set to shine at the Asian Youth Games. They’re targeting podium spots to strengthen India’s spot among Asia’s elite in youth boxing.
