LoP Gandhi begins his day by abusing PM Modi: Kiren Rijiju (IANS Interview)

Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, sharply criticized Congress workers for using inappropriate language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the recent ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar. Rijiju highlighted that such disrespectful words, especially targeting Modi’s late mother, are against Indian culture and shameful. He also pointed out that Rahul Gandhi often starts his day with insults against the Prime Minister, which his supporters tend to mimic.

Rijiju accused the opposition of disruptively blocking parliamentary sessions, especially during the recent Monsoon Session. He blamed Congress Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi for not supporting productive discussions, instead encouraging protests and slogans that hinder the functioning of Parliament. He reminded everyone of past leaders like Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L.K. Advani, who responsibly managed their roles, unlike the current opposition leader.

The Minister also talked about ongoing political developments, including the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ led by Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. He suggested that Gandhi’s and Tejashwi’s focus remains on appealing to specific communities rather than offering real leadership, especially pointing out that Gandhi relies on his family’s legacy.

Rijiju warned the Muslim community against being used as a vote bank by Congress and its allies. He emphasized that poverty among Muslims is largely caused by Congress policies and urged them not to fall for misleading promises.

On recent legislative efforts, Rijiju praised the new Bills related to corruption and online gaming reforms, highlighting that these measures aim to benefit the common people. He criticized opposition tactics that disrupt Parliament, saying they prevent meaningful debates and progress.

Addressing the Bihar elections, Rijiju dismissed doubts about Rahul Gandhi’s intentions regarding the chief ministerial candidate. He stated that Gandhi is mainly relying on his family’s influence and is not focusing on genuine development. He also commented on the political landscape, mentioning that Muslims in India should not view Congress as their sole protector, as their poverty is a result of Congress’s own policies.

On the international front, Rijiju defended Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, especially after US President Donald Trump and Rahul Gandhi questioned India’s economy. Rijiju assured that India’s economy is strong and growing at nearly 8% GDP despite global challenges, thanks to PM Modi’s effective management.

As Minority Affairs Minister, Rijiju supports modernizing madrasas to include scientific and technical education, which is essential for today’s job market. He also reinforced that the government is taking strict actions to prevent illegal Bangladeshis from entering India and infiltrating the electoral rolls.

Regarding Parliament’s security, Rijiju dismissed allegations that the CISF was called in to suppress opposition protests; he clarified only parliamentary marshals operate within the rules. He praised the military operations like ‘Operation Mahadev’ for neutralizing terrorists and criticized opposition silence during such moments.

On international relations, Rijiju highlighted PM Modi’s active participation in the SCO Summit and meetings with China and Russia, which have elevated India’s stature globally. Lastly, he responded to Rahul Gandhi’s accusations about arresting Assam’s CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, emphasizing that Sarma’s defection from Congress revealed Gandhi’s political shortcomings.

Overall, Rijiju stresses unity, responsible governance, and India’s growing strength on the world stage, urging citizens to focus on development rather than discouraging rhetoric.
