In a thrilling finish in Lucknow, India A pulled off an incredible five-wicket victory over Australia A on the fourth day of their second unofficial four-day Test. KL Rahul’s stunning unbeaten 176 and Sai Sudharsan’s solid century powered the team to chase down a massive 412 runs, sealing a 1-0 series win after the opener ended in a draw.
This chase marks history as the highest successful fourth-innings total by any A side, beating Australia A’s previous record of 367 against Sri Lanka A back in 2022. It also shatters India A’s own mark of 340, set during a tour game against Nottinghamshire in 2003.
Rahul stole the show after retiring hurt on 74 the day before. Picking up where he left off, he batted with his usual calm and style, smashing 16 fours and four sixes in his 216-ball knock to guide India A home.
Sudharsan anchored the innings with a gritty 100 from 172 deliveries, featuring nine boundaries and a six. Captain Dhruv Jurel chipped in with a brisk 56 off 66 balls—complete with five fours and three sixes—building a crucial 115-run partnership with Rahul before falling to Corey Rocchiccioli.
In the tense final overs, Nitish Kumar Reddy stayed cool with an unbeaten 16, adding a vital 31-run stand with Rahul to cross the line.
Australia A’s bowlers fought back hard, with Todd Murphy claiming 3-114 and Rocchiccioli grabbing 2-84 in the second innings. But it wasn’t enough to stop India A’s record-breaking run chase in this Lucknow showdown.
