Mumbai, Nov 2 – Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who turns 60 today, skipped his usual fan‑meet in Alibaug, tweeting a brief apology on X (formerly Twitter). The 79‑year‑old star celebrated his birthday with friends and family on the weekend, but “law‑enforcement authorities” advised him not to step out for a public event because of crowd‑control and safety concerns. “I’m sorry to disappoint everyone, but I’ll miss seeing you more than you’ll miss me,” he said, adding, “Thank you for understanding.”
The decision comes amid rising security worries in Mumbai after a string of mafia attacks, prompting police to keep SRK on a tight schedule. Fans disappointed to see little else when they were set to meet the “King of Bollywood” were left to hope for a future reunion.
Earlier this month, SRK capped a 28‑year career by winning his first National Award. Together with actor Vikrant Massey, he accepted the 71st National Award for Best Actor for his work in the pan‑India blockbuster “Jawan.” President Droupadi Murmu presented the trophies, making this the first National Award for both men. For SRK, it’s a historic moment, adding to a string of accolades that includes the Padma Shri (2005) and international honours such as the French L’Étoile d’Or.
Fans also spotted a new teaser on SRK’s day off: the title of his upcoming film “King” was revealed, complete with a silver‑haired look that teased another big‑budget project after “Jawan.” The reveal gave fans a hint that SRK is already planning future marquee releases.
Still, the star’s absence from the fan‑meet has sparked sympathy and speculation. Some predict a surprise appearance later in the year, while others applaud the decision to prioritise safety. Regardless, fans will have plenty to talk about – from SRK’s historic National Award win to the tease of his next epic film.
