Hollywood actress Sydney Sweeney showed true dedication on set, even as her personal life hit a rough patch. Director Paul Feig, who worked with the 28-year-old star on the upcoming thriller “The Housemaid,” praised her for keeping things professional during her breakup with fiancé Jonathan Davino earlier this year.
Feig shared his thoughts in a recent Wall Street Journal interview, highlighting how Sweeney stayed focused and upbeat. “She loves to work,” he said. “She was completely present emotionally, just up for anything, and really didn’t bring any issues to set.” He knew about her engagement ending but noted she never let it show. When he’d check in, she’d brush it off with a simple, “I’m fine, I’m great!”—and it never felt forced.
Sweeney has kept quiet about the split overall, but she opened up a bit in a May interview with The Times. “No (I’m not planning a wedding). Yes (I’m single),” she confirmed. “I’m learning a lot about myself, spending more time with my friends. And I’m loving it.”
Right now, the “Euphoria” and “Anyone But You” star is all in on her career. In the same WSJ chat, she admitted work helps her push through. She gets “anxiety” just thinking about taking time off, explaining that her packed schedule leaves no room for long breaks. “I don’t want to take six months off,” she said. “But if I wanted to lock everything in, I could probably be booked for the next three or four years.”
A source close to Sweeney told People magazine that she’s thriving in this busy phase. “She’s exactly where she wants to be,” the insider said. While her intense workload might overwhelm others, Sweeney loves it and feels excited about her projects. The breakup, though? That stemmed from her shifting priorities. “She didn’t feel right about it,” the source added. “She’s in the middle of this magical career that she could only dream of a few years ago. This is what she wants to focus on right now. She’s not ready to settle down.” They lasted as long as they did because ending it was tough, but it’s all about her professional drive now—not a lack of love.
