Navneet Kaur completes 200 international caps for Indian Women’s Hockey Team

Indian Hockey Star Navneet Kaur Hits 200 International Caps Milestone

In a proud moment for Indian women’s hockey, star forward Navneet Kaur celebrated her 200th international cap during the Women’s Asia Cup 2025 in Hangzhou, China. She reached this exciting milestone in India’s Super4s match against Japan on Saturday, which ended in a thrilling draw.

Navneet, now 29, shines as India’s second-highest scorer at the ongoing Women’s Asia Cup 2025. She burst onto the senior scene in 2014, right after leading the junior team to a bronze medal at the 2013 Junior Women’s World Cup. Since then, she’s become one of the most reliable players in the Indian women’s hockey team, always stepping up in big moments.

Navneet has represented India in every major global tournament, helping the team climb the ranks on the world stage. She played a key role in the historic Tokyo 2020 Olympics run, where India finished fourth—just missing a medal. At the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, her efforts helped secure a bronze medal for the team.

Her trophy cabinet boasts more wins too. Navneet was part of the silver medal-winning squad at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta-Palembang and the bronze at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou. In the Asia Cup, she helped India grab gold in 2017 in Kakamigahara and bronze in 2022 in Muscat. Plus, she contributed to the silver at the 2018 Asian Champions Trophy in Donghae and back-to-back golds in 2023 in Ranchi and 2024 in Rajgir.

Reflecting on her journey, Navneet shared, "This is a very special moment in my career. It’s been an amazing ride since my debut in 2014. The last decade has been full of learning experiences—each tournament taught me something new. I’m so grateful to my family, teammates, coaches, and fans for their support. Wearing the India jersey is a privilege I cherish every day. Milestones like this remind me how lucky I am. I’ll keep giving my best and hope to inspire more young girls to pick up hockey."

Hockey India President Dr. Dilip Tirkey congratulated her, saying, "Playing 200 matches for India shows true excellence and endurance. Navneet has been key to the Indian women’s team’s rise. She’s scored crucial goals, stayed consistent, and become a role model for young players. We’re incredibly proud of her and wish her many more successes."

Hockey India Secretary General Bhola Nath Singh added, "Navneet Kaur’s journey inspires every young girl dreaming of playing hockey for India. Reaching 200 caps takes huge hard work and commitment. Hockey India congratulates her on this remarkable achievement and looks forward to her continued contributions to the team’s success."

Navneet’s story highlights the growing strength of Indian women’s hockey, motivating fans and aspiring athletes alike. As the Women’s Asia Cup 2025 continues, all eyes are on her and the team to add more glory.
