Amit Shah, India’s home‑affairs minister, will open the two‑day International Conference “CoopKumbh 2025” on Tuesday at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The conference, run by the National Federation of Urban Cooperative Banks and Credit Societies (NAFCUB) with the Ministry of Cooperation, focuses on the urban cooperative credit sector and its digital future.
Titled “Digitizing Dreams – Empowering Communities,” CoopKumbh 2025 brings together policymakers, regulators, cooperative leaders, banks and tech innovators from India and abroad. The aim is to strengthen cooperatives as drivers of financial inclusion and to spark new ideas in the banking landscape.
NAFCUB President Laxmi Dass said the event will cover a wide range of topics, from digital transformation and governance reform to women’s and youth leadership in cooperatives. “Through dialogue and shared vision we can keep the cooperative model at the heart of India’s growth,” Dass added.
The conference will feature international experts, including the World Council of Credit Unions and GreenStone Farm Credit Services. They will share global best practices in cooperative finance and sustainable banking practices.
CoopKumbh 2025 coincides with the United Nations’ International Year of Cooperatives 2025, highlighting the role of cooperative finance in economic empowerment, digital innovation, and community development.
With leaders from across the cooperative ecosystem in attendance, CoopKumbh 2025 is set to map a transformative path for India’s urban cooperative banks, reinforcing their role as engines of grassroots financial inclusion and social progress.
