New Delhi witnessed a massive and energetic turnout this Sunday as MPs, top ministers, and celebrated athletes joined hundreds of citizens for a special cycling event. The ‘Fit India Sundays on Cycle’ initiative, held under the theme ‘Garv se Swadeshi’ (Proudly Indian), turned into a powerful display of fitness and patriotism.
Organized in partnership with Indian Railways, the event aimed to promote a healthy lifestyle, a clean environment, and the importance of Swadeshi values. The iconic Major Dhyan Chand Stadium served as the venue for this grand gathering.
Leading the charge, Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I’m happy that in Delhi, more than 50 MPs are cycling today and encouraging the nation with the message of Sunday on Cycle.” He highlighted that such cycling events are being organized across the country to spread the core messages of Fit India and Swadeshi.
The participation was star-studded, with several Union Ministers and MPs from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha pedaling alongside the public. Union Minister of State Raksha Khadse explained the broader mission, saying the goal is to “create awareness about fitness,” while also “promoting a clean environment and addressing traffic problems.”
Echoing the sentiment, Union MoS Bhagirath Choudhary shared, “Modi ji’s message is that Fit India is important and cycling is the best form of exercise.” BJP MPs Mahesh Kashyap, Bhojraj Nag, and Naveen Jindal were also present, praising the Prime Minister’s vision for a fitter India. Jindal, a daily fitness enthusiast, added, “Cycling has its own special fun, so when I got this opportunity to cycle today, I came.”
The event received a major boost from renowned athletes who came to inspire the public. Olympic medalist Sakshi Malik urged everyone to make fitness a priority, saying, “You should stay fit by any means possible.” Dronacharya Awardee Jaydev Bisht noted a positive shift in the country’s attitude, observing that people are now more focused on exercise and staying active.
The ‘Fit India Sundays on Cycle’ campaign continues to gain momentum, successfully building a culture of fitness nationwide and encouraging citizens to take pride in Indian-made products and a healthy, active lifestyle.
