Patna, Dec 10 (LatestNewsX) – With the Bihar Assembly elections wrapped up, the contention has turned toward the Patna High Court.
Discontented with the outcomes in several wards, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM), and Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP) have all lodged a series of election petitions that contest the victories of the freshly elected MLAs. All of the petitions were signed by Advocate Avnish Kumar, and the High Court began hearing them on Wednesday.
In the Narpatganj and Madhubani seats, the courts have already taken a firm tone. RJD’s Manish Yadav put the win of BJP MLA Devyanti Yadav in Narpatganj under scrutiny. Acting on the petition, a single‑bench of Justice Shashi Bhushan Prasad Singh sent a notice to the MLA. Likewise, RLJP’s Ganesh Kumar Mehran challenged the election of RLM MLA Madhav Anand from Madhubani. Justice Ashok Kumar Pandey’s bench likewise forwarded a notice to the new MLA, asking for an official reply.
Two other pivotal constituencies are now in the legal spotlight. RJD’s Dr Ijya Yadav from Mohiuddinnagar filed a petition seeking to invalidate the election of BJP MLA Rajesh Kumar Singh. Meanwhile, HAM’s Dr Anil Kumar from the Tekari seat has disputed RJD MLA Ajay Kumar’s win. These filings have added a layer of uncertainty for the new legislators, whose futures hinge on the court’s rulings.
The 2025 Bihar Assembly election results were released on November 14, with the NDA, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, securing an impressive majority. The coalition claimed 202 seats: 89 for BJP, 85 for JDU, 19 for Lok Janshakti Party Ram Vilas, 5 for Jitan Ram Manjhi‑led Hindustani Awam Morcha, and 4 for Upendra Kushwaha‑led Rashtriya Lok Morcha. The Grand Alliance managed only 35 seats.
