Zupee, India’s top online gaming and entertainment company, is making waves by jumping into the exciting world of eSports. With more than 200 million users already hooked and the fresh launch of Zupee Studio, the company wants to make competitive gaming open to everyone in India. They’re transforming classic Indian games like Ludo, Carrom, and Chess into thrilling global eSports versions that anyone can enjoy.
The big reveal happened at PlayCom 2025, where Zupee’s Founder and CEO, Dilsher Singh Malhi, shared his vision. He believes India can lead the global eSports boom, which is set to draw over 700 million viewers this year and offer prize pools topping $70 million. “India doesn’t just have to join this movement—we can lead it,” Malhi said. With 750 million internet users and a deep-rooted gaming culture, India has everything it needs for a vibrant eSports scene. Plus, the new Online Gaming Act 2025 officially recognizes eSports as a real sport, giving it a strong boost.
Malhi explained Zupee’s plan focuses on three key areas: turning traditional Indian games into high-stakes competitions, making gaming easy on affordable smartphones, and gathering top talent like designers, engineers, and community experts. Take Ludo, for example—everyone’s favorite pastime. Zupee has turned it into a skill-based game where smart strategies and sharp focus win the day. This pulls in millions of players who skip consoles or PCs altogether.
Why smartphones? India boasts over 750 million of them, but fewer than 10 million gaming consoles. Malhi stressed that mobile-first gaming is the way to go for true inclusivity in Indian eSports.
Enter Zupee Studio, the company’s newest gem. It mixes gaming with fun entertainment through live tournament streams, player stories, and local broadcasts tailored for Indian fans. This setup makes eSports feel close and exciting. Beyond fun, Malhi sees huge potential: eSports could create jobs in areas like commentary, content making, and broadcasting. It might even test cool tech like AI and AR/VR, while putting Indian games on the world map as cultural stars.
Malhi invited everyone in the eSports world to team up. “We welcome all to build a safe, inclusive ecosystem that’s proudly Indian,” he said. At Zupee, they’re not just following trends—they’re laying the groundwork for India’s eSports future. As Malhi put it, “When India plays, we don’t just play to win; we play to lead.”
