Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt shared a heartfelt message for the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as it celebrates its 100th anniversary on Vijaya Dashami. In a video posted on X, formerly Twitter, on Thursday, Dutt praised the organization’s dedication to India.
“Namaskar,” he began. “This Vijaya Dashami marks 100 years of RSS. Through every challenge, the Sangh has stayed true to the nation and nation building. Swayamsevaks have contributed in all walks of life and stood in service during every calamity.”
Dutt went on to highlight the RSS’s ongoing efforts. “RSS continues its work for positive social change. On this occasion, let us join together in the mission of nation building. I congratulate RSS for 100 years. Jai Hind. Jai Bharat.”
The RSS, a key Hindu nationalist group, started in 1925 in Nagpur under Keshav Baliram Hedgewar. It runs like a volunteer cadre with daily shakhas—gatherings for physical drills, training, and talks. The group gained major influence after India’s independence and shapes the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) through its roots in the Jana Sangh. It leads the Sangh Parivar network, which includes student groups, labor unions, and cultural outfits. Today, the RSS boasts millions of members in India and overseas.
Before this, Dutt visited the famous Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain to seek blessings. Videos captured him in the Nandi Hall that morning, watching the sacred Bhasma Aarti.
“It’s my good fortune that Baba Mahakal called me here,” Dutt said after the visit. “I had been trying to come for years.” He described feeling “divine energy directly” and added, “May Baba Mahakal’s blessings always remain.”
