After Thanksgiving dinner turned into a catastrophe, a Wisconsin mother found herself grief‑stricken when the three little ones she had left at their father’s apartment perished in a blaze. The fire, which erupted around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, claimed the lives of 10‑year‑old Rylee, 9‑year‑old Connor and 7‑year‑old Alena. Feasby had dropped them there that morning so they could spend the holiday with their dad, who himself sustained smoke inhalation but later recovered.
When her sister phoned that night with the unspeakable news, Feasby said, “I was so excited for Christmas shopping but now it’s just caskets,” and added, “They brought all of this light that now I don’t have.” She reflected that the blaze had wiped out “all of this light”—a reminder of how sudden and devastating the loss feels.
In a conversation with CBS 58, the mother openly admitted that she would have acted differently: “You can sit here and say all you want to, ‘I would have done this, this and this,’ and in the situation it’s completely different,” she told reporters. She continued, “But I will tell you that if I was in that situation, without a doubt, my kids would’ve been out or I would’ve been dead with them,” underscoring how she believes she would have died before leaving them there.
Authorities still haven’t identified the cause of the fire, and the investigation is ongoing. Despite the ex‑father’s release from the hospital, the family grapples with the shock of losing their entire world. Feasby conveyed, “They were just my whole world, and they were literally the brightest things that I have ever had in my life,” and explained that the grief makes her feel “so alone, to go from having my whole world to nothing.” She found a strange comfort in the fact that her children are together – “It does bring you peace that they are all together, that way none of them are alone, but it’s also hard in a selfish sense for myself because I didn’t want to get left behind.”
