Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has assured that the state government is fully committed to fixing land issues and rebuilding trust in the revenue system. Speaking at a special event called ‘Koluvula Panduga,’ where he handed over appointment letters to new Gram Panchayat Officers (GPOs), he emphasized efforts to bring transparency and fairness to land matters in Telangana.
Revanth Reddy didn’t hold back when criticizing the previous BRS government. He accused it of removing the VRO and VRA land records systems to hide major land scams. The Chief Minister claimed that the previous government portrayed revenue officials as criminals to cover up their own misdeeds during their ten-year rule.
He also criticized the land registration portal, Dharani, saying it was misused to grab expensive lands across the state. Revanth Reddy shared a shocking incident where a farmer protesting over land issues at Ibrahimpatnam set an official on fire after pouring petrol on him. In another case, a woman even threw her Mangalasutra at officials in Sircilla, showing the anger of people affected by these land problems.
Revanth Reddy pointed out that the blame doesn’t lie with the revenue officials, but with the flawed system created by the previous government. He promised that the new government dumped Dharani into the Bay of Bengal, as promised, and introduced a new law called the Bhu Bharati Act to address land rights transparently.
He also blamed the BRS rulers for destroying the entire land revenue system to avoid facing legal actions. The Chief Minister questioned how millions of rupees were lost in just three years in the Kaleshwaram project, hinting at corruption and mismanagement.
Revanth Reddy urged the newly appointed GPOs to play a responsible role in helping common people, especially the poor, by resolving land issues and stopping false land claims. He said that these officers are part of the team building Telangana’s future and must work to protect people’s land rights through proper implementation of laws like the Bhu Bharathi Act.
Highlighting Telangana’s rich history of land rights struggles—led by heroes like Komurambheem, Chakali Ailamma, and Ravi Narayan Reddy—the Chief Minister reminded everyone that land reforms have always been at the heart of the state’s movement for justice. Telangana has also been known for land redistribution efforts, such as the Bhoodan Movement, which helped distribute thousands of acres to the poor.
This event and speech signal the state government’s focus on land reforms, transparency, and trust, aiming to create a fairer system for all Telangana residents.
