Gujarat to launch ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar’ campaign from Sep 17

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday on September 17 kicks off a major nationwide campaign called “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar,” which means Healthy Women, Empowered Families. In Gujarat, the state-level launch happens at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, with Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel joining the celebrations.

Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel shared exciting details: the campaign runs from September 17 to October 2, bringing over 1.41 lakh health camps right to people’s doorsteps. That includes 10,849 specialist camps and 1,30,188 screening camps offering free health services for women, children, and everyone in the community.

Top doctors in fields like cardiology, oncology, and nephrology will step in to provide expert care. The focus? A wide range of essential services to boost women’s health and family well-being.

You’ll find antenatal and postnatal care to support moms, plus immunisation drives for kids. There’s special attention to adolescent health, tackling issues like anaemia and menstrual hygiene. The camps will screen and treat non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and hypertension, along with early detection for oral, cervical, and breast cancer. They also cover sickle cell anaemia, tuberculosis checks, mental health talks, eye and ENT exams, and dental care.

The programme goes beyond basics—it spreads awareness on obesity prevention, organ and body donation, traditional Ayush services, and elderly care. It links up with popular schemes like Ayushman Bharat for health insurance and Vay Vandana for senior support, making healthcare more accessible.

Here’s a big perk: During these two weeks, all diagnostic tests at government health facilities come free. Think X-rays, sonography, MRI, CT scans, lab work, and radiology—zero cost. Even follow-up tests recommended by camp doctors stay free if done within the time limit.

To make the launch even more special, a massive blood donation drive happens on September 17 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and 600 other spots across Gujarat. It’s all about preventive care and getting communities involved.

The Health and Family Welfare Department teams up with the Women and Child Development Department to run this show. Expect district-level mega camps in cities like Rajkot, plus outreach everywhere in the state.

Minister Patel encourages everyone—especially women and families—to join in. “This is your chance to catch health issues early, get treated for free, and build stronger, healthier lives,” he said. It’s not just about fixing problems; it’s about preventing them and raising public health awareness across India.
